In the past few months regular visitors to Pico’s World Community Parks (Bahasa, Chinese, English, French, Korean, Spanish, etc.) have likely witnessed at least one of the many ways that users are exploiting the game by using a program to rewrite code. This allows them to make changes in the appearance of their Pico avatar.
We’ve seen lots of completely naked Picos, a few who enlarge themselves (we haven’t documented the giants on RO80), and now … colour-change chat boxes.
Check out PaUlY d 😀 in the photo above.
This sort of activity is against the Terms of Service that each Pico user agrees to at the time of registration under:
5. Online Conduct
… you agree not to engage in any of the following:
(j) Engage in or promote or encourage any illegal or fraudulent activity including hacking, cracking or distribution of counterfeit software, or identity theft.
(o) Use or distribute “auto” software programs, “macro” software programs or other “cheat utility” software program or applications.
(q) Attempt (or authorize, encourage or support others’ attempts) to circumvent, reverse engineer, decrypt, break or otherwise alter or interfere with the Service or any component thereto.
(s) Interfere with, hack into or decipher any transmissions to or from the servers running the Service.
Ameba has made it clear that using WPE Pro or any other software that allows users to exploirt Pico’s servers and alter the game in any way will get your account banned.
We all know that Ameba is full of shit. They haven’t even gotten rid of g’pa despite his continued violation of bullying and harassment rules!
And do we even need to mention the fact that if Ameba actually got their heads of out of their flat asses and had their staff properly moderate Pico they’d see these things for themselves. The people exploiting the game are so overt about it.
Clueless buncha bastards.
Really and truly the rules are simply lip service. There are no real repercussions, it seems. Just ask g’pa. If you get banned, just turn off your modem for a few solid minutes to reset your IP address and you’re back in business.
It’s like Lord of the Flies in there. Anything goes.
